That’s Sound Advice – Mission & Vision

The Certified Crop Adviser (CCA) and Certified Professional Agronomist (CPAg) programs of the American Society of Agronomy are the benchmarks of professionalism in the agricultural industry.

In general, certification is the standard by which professionals are judged. The purpose of a certification program is to protect the public and the profession. The certifications are voluntary professional enhancements to a person’s career credentials. Farmers and employers prefer to work with CCAs and CPAgs because they have demonstrated they have the commitment, education, expertise, and experience to make a difference.    

CCA certification was established in 1992 to provide a benchmark for practicing agronomy professionals in the United States and Canada. Read CCA Program Overview. Established in the 1970’s and merged with the CCA program in 2012, the Certification as a Certified Professional Agronomist (CPAg) program is based on being a CCA in good standing, a minimum of a B.S. degree in Agronomy, five years of experience (post degree) and five references. All CPAg applicants are reviewed by the Local Certifying Board which is appointed by the President of ASA.

The CCA – That’s Sound Advice campaign mission is to assist CCAs and CPAgs in maintaining, building and growing their professional program for all Agronomists throughout North America and the World. By offering the latest marketing and communications tools and facilitating and educating CCAs on the use of these tools, we can match and maintain the highest standards of communications for CCA as expected by CCAs, our clients and our community.  

The “CCA – That’s Sound Advice” Vision:

After two decades of developing and managing the Certified Crop Adviser program, the International Certified Crop Advisers board and the American Society of Agronomy (ASA), along with partners in agriculture farming and production, agriculture education, ag-business and ag-marketing embarked on the “CCA – That’s Sound Advice” marketing campaign to add value to the credentials.

The “CCA – That’s Sound Advice” campaign vision is three-fold:

  • Maintain the current CCA numbers while growing new and renewing certifications.
  • Build demand among Producers, Farmers, Employers and the Communities we feed.
  • Grow a portal for actively involved CCAs to support the CCA community and build its strength through TRUE, brand-centric marketing and community-focused communication.

With your help and the CCA community’s proven focus and drive, “CCA – That’s Sound Advice” will continue to develop solutions for promoting and communicating the Certified Crop Advisers program today, tomorrow and into the future.
